I'll be in Canberra for four months on temporary insanity charges from May to September, then I'm going to Europe with Belinda for a few months, and when I get back I don't know where I'll be.

Thus you are all updated.

Hi All,

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'll be growin a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about changing men's health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why...

Depression affects 1 in 6 men...Most don't seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.
To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 67735 and your credit card details, or click this link. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the "Movember Foundation" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 67735. Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.

For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket .

Thanks for your support

Nick

More info is available at www.movember.com.

P.S. I'm thinking of starting a team, so let me know if you're interested!

So, iTunes for Windows is great and all, but there's not much help out there for PC users. I recently discovered that when iTunes downloads album artwork it stores it in .itc files in your music library directory. So when you copy music off your hard drive and play it on something else the images are not embedded in the file, they're referenced on the hard drive. No hard drive means no pictures.

I found a way to embed them. Open a file of an album, right click on the artwork and copy, close the item, open all the songs in the album, right click and paste the artwork. Simple, but very slow.

Here's a much better way.
http://home.comcast.net/~teridon73/itunesscripts/index.html

This guy has written a script that, among other things, extracts the image file, and embeds it into the ID3 tag of the music file. Works great! And there are some other nice features it can do as well.

Does anyone want to buy a practice guitar amp? It's served me faithfully for 10 years. Peavey 40 watt solid state, all the usuals like overdrive/clean channel etc. Here's the current model, http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/116534/number/00583560/cat/64/begin/1/Envoy%AE+110.cfm which mine looks MUCH older than.

I need to offload some gear before I move.

So I didn't get the job I applied for in Sydney, Bel thinks it is good for my humility, but I think it sucks.

I'm thinking of making this like a shotgun wedding, find a place and move that weekend. BAM! I'm there. Yeah...

So I am going to move to Sydney, and try my hand at living in another city for the first time in my life.

Wish me luck!

--EDIT--

I'll be moving in with my beautiful girlfriend in the inner city, some place like Surry Hills if we can afford it. I plan on being there by the end of July and am possibly transferring to the DEWR offices in North Ryde until I can find a nicer job.

Hmm. Well, let me see...

I've been doing some work, and some more work, and then some more.

Apart from that I've done some recording with a bunch of guys that play guitars with squealies in them (metal) and watched season 2 and three of Oz.

Right now I'm eating chips and waiting to be accosted by someone here at work about some minor detail. It's quite busy you see.

Oh yes, it's my birthday soon, and to celebrate y'all should come down to the Irish Club on Friday the

11th of May.

I will be there with drink in hand.

Cheerio!

---- EDIT ----

I actually got the dates wrong, the Friday is the 11th of May. Ah well.

I'm finding myself with a lot of spare time, and doing lots of things with it. All in an effort to distract from Belinda being in Sydney.

It is productive though :)

No progress on the new position... but my brother informed me it took him 8 months to pass security checks.

I'm pretty sure my thumb is going to have a decent scar on it from the shanking incident. Good news is it's healed fully now so I can play music again! Hooray! Damn shoddy shanks, I'm going to kill that prag...

Ok so get this, there's this awesome sunburst 64 Jazz Relic at BM with a sticker price of $5,700 that I absolutely love, the sound, the feel, the look. So I wonder to myself how many actual vintage basses are around how much could an actual vintage bass be? Looked around and found this one which is the specific bass they modelled the relic on. So I wonder how much it costs, seeing as it's not listed. I sent them an email asking, and the reply came back today. No banter, no talking, just a single number... $8900. And that's US dollars people, $11,240 Australian.

So I'm thinking yeah that would be great, to have a vintage bass that sounds fantastic and is only going to increase in value. But then I realise that about 2% of people that listen to music know what a jazz bass is, and that 0.2% could pick a jazz bass sound, and that 0.02% could pick a nice jazz bass sound, and that 0.002% could tell the difference between the relic and the vintage side by side, and that 0.0002% could pick the difference by listening to a song.

It stands to reason that I'm not prepared to double the price of the bass I want for those 0.0002% of people. Sure, if I had the cash I would get it in a second, but really you're paying for nostalgia.

That is all.

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 movies, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 movies on this list. Copy this list mail, go to your own myspace account, click on Post Bullentin, paste this. Then, put x's next to the movies you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun!

So..... who'd like to see me with handlebars?

By like to see me of course I mean for me to have them and you to know that I have them, not actually deriving pleasure from seeing it. Unless you're into that kind of thang.

Hi all,

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’ll be growin a moustache. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because I’m passionate about changing the state of men’s health.

Male health is a major issue, did you know:

Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 6 years less than females.
Every year in Australia 2,700 men die of prostate cancer – more than the number of women who die from breast cancer.
Depression affects 1 in 6 men…Most don’t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide. Rates of suicide are more than double the national road toll.
Help me change the face of men’s health by sponsoring my mo.

Please go to http://www.movember.com.au/au/sponsor, enter my Rego number which is 23656 and your credit card details. All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember will be used to change the face of men's health by creating awareness and funding research into prostate cancer and male depression.

Cheers

Nick

Rawr!

I am alive and well. Now that's taken care of...

Not much to report, going to Melbourne tomorrow for a few days, want to buy another bass (J or P? Vintage or standard? 62 or 75?), considering trading in my current one, need some decent monitors for mixing, would like to buy some more CDs, need to work less and have more fun.

So anyone with any ideas about how to achieve this?

Oh and I may have a new job next year. I need to get out of this cynical place full of negative minded people. Well, not filled, but there's enough of them to make it frustrating.
